FCPA Dr Margaret Nyakang’o
FCPA Dr Margaret Nyakang’o was appointed the Controller of Budget of the Republic of Kenya on 4th December 2019, to oversee and report on the implementation of the budgets of the National and County Governments to Parliament quarterly. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, UK. Her doctoral research was on Strategic Workforce Planning within the Kenyan Public Service. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, both from the University of Nairobi. Dr. Nyakang’o is a practising Fellow of the College of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. She is also a member of the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya and an active member of the Women on Boards Network.
Dr. Nyakang’o has broad experience in Finance and Accounting, Strategic Management, Auditing, Tax, and Human Resource Management. Her experience spans over thirty years, during which she has distinguished herself as a person of impeccable integrity with a wide range of skills and expertise; all rolled up into a powerhouse of demonstrable positive change.
Dr. Nyakang’o has trained in Enterprise Risk Management, Quality Management Systems, Mediation, Coaching and Corporate Governance. She is both a Certified Online Trainer and a Certified Professional Coach. She has been a Board Member of the Institute of Pension Management, the Vet Labs Sports Club Board and the Kenya National Commission for Human Rights Audit and Risk Committee. She has been an independent consultant, and lectured at KCA University, integrating theory and practice. She is an accomplished author who plays golf and reads factual material.
Dr. Nyakang’o was recently awarded the Chief of Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) by H. E. the President of the Republic of Kenya, for her outstanding role in national development.
